The Latin-American State Observatory (ODELA) is the result of an extension project, being organized by a group of undergraduate and graduate students under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Leonardo Granato. Participants are members of the Politics, State and Capitalism in Latin America Research Group (Núcleo de Estudos em Política, Estado e Capitalismo na América Latina, NEPEC) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, UFRGS). NEPEC is linked to the School of Administration (UFRGS) and to the Graduate Programs of Political Science and of Public Policies at UFRGS.
ODELA seeks to contribute to the debate about the State in the periphery of the system, particularly in Latin America. It focuses on discussing and writing about different themes pertaining to NEPEC’s research on the State in Latin America. With that goal in mind, we expect this science blog to become a relevant tool to spread information about activities and research projects developed by ODELA’s members, guests and readers. We hope to encourage national and international academic cooperation and debate.
