EXTENSION PROJECTS

“The University Extension, as a core activity of the University, is an educational, cultural, and scientific process that articulates, expands, develops, and feeds back into teaching and research. It fosters interdisciplinarity and enables a transformative relationship between the University and society. This engagement, aimed at mutual development and the exchange of knowledge, results in the production of knowledge derived from confronting national and regional realities, the democratization of academic knowledge, and the effective participation of communities in the University’s activities.”

(General Standards for University Extension Activities – Resolution No. 17/2015 – CEPE).

For PROPUR, the primary goals of University Extension in the field of Urban and Regional Planning are: (i) to strenghten ties and build bonds between the University and society, aiming for a better understanding of local, regional and national urban realities; (ii) to engage the University and Society in a dialogical relationship; (iii) to bring themes, problems, and empirical foundations into teaching and research.

Initiatives provided by extension practice must ensure a training process guided by social responsibility and a dialogue between different forms of urban knowledge; recognizing that ‘the other’ (community, social movements, and actors) are not objects, but subjects of dialogue.

ANPUR (National Association of Graduation and Research in Urban and Regional Planning), a forum historically dedicated to research, grants a signifanct space for reflection and debate on extension practice. This fact expresses the recognition (and effective practice) of the inseparability between teaching, research and extension.

The extension activities offered by PROPUR professors can be consulted and accessed in their Lattes Curricula or on the websites of the Laboratories and Research Groups.
