GPMC Meeting – August 13rd

This Thursday we will have another seminar of our research lab (https://www.ufrgs.br/gpmc).

Bruno Bentes, master’s student at PPGA / UFRGS, will present his dissertation project entitled “Analysis of Sentiment and Opinion of Fans of a Sports Entity in Virtual Social Network”.

The seminar will take place on Thursday, 08/13, from 2 pm to 3 pm, virtually, using Google Meet (https://meet.google.com/sgg-kiki-fwi).

Abstract: Social networking sites have been used by sports fans to publicly express their opinions and feelings. These virtual platforms can represent an important source of data for sports and marketing management. The processing of a large volume of unstructured data available on these sites, however, can reveal methodological challenges and the need for advances in automated research techniques. This research project proposes to analyze the feeling and opinion of fans of a sports entity based on statements published on a virtual social network, using, therefore, techniques of Natural Language Processing (Natural Language Processing or NLP) and supervised machine learning (Machine Learning). This project seeks to add perspectives to sports managers and marketing professionals regarding how social networking sites can be used to identify the opinion and affective status of fans in order to favor sports and marketing management.

We waiting for your (virtual) presence!
