Applied Remote Sensing
Various studies of the environment as well as renewable and non-renewable natural resources, using remote sensing and geoprocessing tools. Applications in crop forecasting. Applications in urban, soil, water resources, vegetation and geological mapping, among others, using multi- and hyperspectral sensors on a geospatial reference.

Atmospheric Sciences
Development of numerical models of atmospheric pollutant dispersion on the meso- and microscale. These studies are applied to specific cases in urban, industrial and rural regions, which are hotspots for the generation of gases and aerosols. Studies are also carried out in agrometeorology, for monitoring and forecasting agricultural crops using meteorological and remote sensing data.

Cartography and Geoinformation Science
Development of research in the areas of Cartography and Geoinformation Science, involving digital reference data, spatial data infrastructure, geovisualization, spatial cognition, geospatial analysis and modeling. Issues related to standardization, cartographic generalization, spatial data quality and geodatabases are also addressed, including the use of free platforms and open data.

Satellite Geodesy
Development of research in the field of geodesy using information from artificial satellites, in two areas: positioning and gravity field. The research aims to study and evaluate GNSS positioning techniques; development of GNSS positioning techniques with low-cost equipment; GNSS applications in studies of the Earth’s atmosphere; modeling of the gravity field and its geodetic and geological applications; evaluation of existing geopotential models; satellite leveling and satellite altimetry.
