This area develops tools and methodologies for the operational improvement of industrial processes. Throughout its history, it has already developed several applications (e.g., BRPerfX, BR NMPC, EMSO, and RPN-Toolbox). Today, BRPerfX software is a typical example of industrial success, since it is the tool used by Petrobras in more than 23 refineries and exploration units to audit and diagnose the operational performance of control meshes and processes. The research projects related to this software are considered as one of the cases of successful partnership between Petrobras and Universities.
