Títle: “PERIODIC EVENT-TRIGGERED CONTROL FOR LUR’E AND RATIONAL SYSTEMS WITH SATURATION”

Abstract:
“This work proposes new theoretical conditions for stability analysis and stabilization of continuous-time nonlinear systems subject to actuator saturation with periodic eventtriggered control. The focus of this research is on the classes of Lur’e type systems and rational systems. Furthermore, in cases where the asymptotic stability of the origin may no longer be achieved, we devise sufficient conditions to ensure that the closed-loop trajectories are ultimately bounded. To handle these problems, we adopt emulation and co-design approaches considering a state-feedback controller and three classes of event generators: static, dynamic, and relaxed. Based on Lyapunov Theory arguments and the looped-functional technique, we derive a set of constructive linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to certify the closed-loop stability. From these elements, semidefinite programming problems with LMI constraints are formulated to systematically design the control law and the event-triggering mechanism parameters. The proposed optimization criteria aim to reduce the number of control signal updates compared to the periodic sampleddata strategy, enlarge the ellipsoidal estimate of the domain of attraction of the origin, or minimize the ultimate bounded stabilization region. The main innovations of this thesis are: (i) the development of ultimate bounded stabilization conditions using loopedfunctionals, and (ii) the formulation of optimization-based design methods for periodic event-triggered control of Lur’e and rational systems, with different stability guarantees. Numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the application of the proposed methods.
