Graduate programme

Our Masters programme consists of 2 years of research and astronomy and physics courses with a dissertation presentation required for completing the degree.
The PhD programme lasts 4 years and includes astronomy and physics course, a thesis presentation and peer-reviewed accepted papers are required for completing the degree. Applications for a PhD are welcome at any time. Please contact one of our professors, in your interested field of research for more information. Master | Call (Portuguese only)

The application to the Master course is possible in two opportunities during the academic year, announced in this website by means of specific Calls. The Graduate Program in Physics at UFRGS is a participating Institution of the Unified Exam of Graduate Programs in Physics (EUF). The PPGFís considers that the score obtained in this Exam is valid for 3 (three) years from the date of its evaluation.

  • The application to the Master course must follow the instructions in the Call made public by the PPGFís.
  • The application to the EUF does not imply in the application to the Selecting process of the PPGFís at UFRGS. The application to the Selecting process also does not imply in the automatic applications to EUF.

Doctoral | Call

The application to the Doctoral course is possible at any time during the year, following the Permanent Call of admission to the Doctoral course. Applications received up to 15th day of each month will be evaluated to be registered in the upcoming month.
