Beyond Gaussianity: New Statistical Approaches for Weak Lensing Cosmology – Gabriela Marques (CBPF)

[:pb]3 de junho[:America/Sao_Paulo6]junho 3[:]: 13:30 - 14:30

Abstract: Weak gravitational lensing is one of the most powerful probes of the large-scale structure of the Universe. Ongoing Stage-III surveys, including Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC), Dark Energy Survey (DES), and Kilo-Degree Survey (KiDS), have already delivered competitive cosmological constraints using weak lensing measurements. To date, most analyses have relied primarily on two-point statistics, such as correlation functions and power spectra. However, these statistics are insufficient to fully exploit the wealth of information available in the highly nonlinear regime that will be probed by upcoming Stage-IV surveys, including the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), the Euclid Consortium mission, and the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.

Higher-order weak lensing statistics and machine learning techniques offer promising avenues to access non-Gaussian information, improve cosmological constraints, and enhance the calibration of astrophysical and observational systematics. In this talk, I will discuss recent efforts to optimize weak lensing analyses beyond two-point statistics, with an emphasis on methods sensitive to complementary cosmological and systematic effects, including baryonic physics, intrinsic alignments, and photometric redshift uncertainties. I will present recent results from Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam analyses using a range of higher-order statistical tools, highlighting the potential of these approaches to enable a more robust and information-rich cosmological analysis in the Stage-IV era.
