Extension course “rediscovering cinema through its political institutions” - September 1st session

The extension course “rediscovering cinema through its political institutions”, taught by Professor Luciano Miranda (Department of Political Science - UFRGS), holds on September 1, 2025, at 1:30 pm, in the Ilea Auditorium (Vale Campus - UFRGS), the screening of the film “Metropolis” (FRITZ LANG, 1927, 148).

considered one of the most important works of German expressionist cinema, Metropolis presents a narrative set in a futuristic city marked by extreme social contrasts. The film became a reference for reflections on technology, inequality, power and political institutions.

The course, promoted by Ilea and the nave.gecompol, continues until November 24, 2025, always on Mondays, with sessions that discuss film productions in dialogue with historical and political contexts.
