This defense is a requirement for your progression to the position of Full Professor. The event will be available both in person and online.

The thesis of Professor Esensal addresses the influence of trade unions in the face of technological and organizational changes that impacted work processes. The study begins with an analysis of historical events and theories that were fundamental in the author's research on the subject. Following is an exploitation of various union negotiation experiences at the national and international level, focusing on the changes in work processes over the last four decades.

In addition, the thesis offers a critical assessment of these negotiations, discussing the quality of the agreements, the effectiveness of negotiated clauses, predominant trade union strategies and the challenges found by unions. Finally, work examines recent transformations in the world of work and its impact on the relationship of subordination of labor on capital, highlighting the need for a more effective union action.

Professor Cotanda's work will be available for consultation with the UFRGS Lume Repository as soon as possible.
