Since 2015, the philosophical discourses on art, investigates the variety of aesthetic and artistic phenomena, based on interdisciplinary research between philosophy and history, literature, performing arts and fine arts. According to Professor Kathrin Lion Rosenfield, the group's leader, the participants are interested in the different theoretical discourses and developments that have leaned, each in their own way, within different historical quadratures, about art.

However, the history of the work developed intersects with its academic production. “Between 2000 and 2025, my teaching activity in the Department of Philosophy and PPGs of UFRGS Philosophy and Literature began to turn to the unfolding of research in creative programs integrating the interests of other areas and non -academic public in general. I began to collaborate with translators and directors of theater, writers and plastic artists, architects, about subjects involving the history of philosophy and thought”, explained.

Still in 2015, according to Kathrin, along with his student and then guiding, Guilherme Mautone, the group was unfolded from the philosophy and literature group, of which the teacher is also a leader. Thus, the researchers began to investigate the variety of aesthetic and artistic phenomena, considering the social and ethical implications of aesthetic experience, the evolution of systematized reflections and discourses on sensitive experience, and the poetic and artistic practices that will become the object of philosophical discipline of "aesthetics."

To this day, the group receives researchers and undergraduates from the areas of philosophy, letters and visual arts, interested in expanding knowledge about theoretical discourses about art. Due to the proximity to these areas, interlocutions are promoted with the same courses and with the PPGs in Letters, Visual Arts and Philosophy.

The work encourages participants to follow in the academy, according to the teacher, there are researchers interested in the academic editoring processes and the flow of research products. “And in this sense, the group safeguards a very close relationship with the journal Philia magazine | Philosophy, Literature & Art , linked to UFRGS and the three PPGs mentioned. stated.

From next year, the teacher predicts the deepening of the conception of new academic activities and extension projects, including with cultural institutions of Porto Alegre. In order to respond to the need for large scope research, providing the inclusion of different researchers, with different interests, from different areas of knowledge, although related.
