Gunter AXT: Academic and Professional Trajectory from IFCH

Gunter Axt, a former IFCH student, has a career marked by significant contributions in history and cultural management. Graduated in History from UFRGS and a master's degree in the same institution, he was guided by Professor Helga Piccolo, a reference in the study of the political and economic history of Rio Grande do Sul during the Old Republic.

His master's research, which later expanded in his doctoral thesis at USP, published in 2011, explores the dynamics between public policies, institutions and private interests. This work is often cited as an essential reference in the area.

In addition to the gym, AXT served as Municipal Secretary of Culture of Porto Alegre in 2021, facing the challenge of reactivating the cultural sector after the pandemic. It is known for its defense of interdisciplinarity and the use of history to understand and resolve contemporary social and economic issues.
