Prof. Luciano Miranda Coordinates Movie Cycle in the Redemption Room: Cinema, Politics and Reflection

The Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences (IFCH) of UFRGS is proud to highlight the performance of Prof. Luciano Miranda, from the Department of Political Science, as coordinator of the "Cinema and Political Institutions" cycle, to be held at the Redemption Room, from October to December. The sessions, which will take place on Mondays, at 1:30 pm, will provide a critical and reflective look at the intellect between cinema and politics in the twentieth century, covering productions from countries such as Germany, Soviet Union, France, USA and the United Kingdom. >
The initiative not only explores international cinematography, but also the national, leading to debates about the distribution of resources in Brazilian cinema. The event is enriched with comments from Prof. Luciano Miranda after each exhibition, bringing his expertise and academic perspective on the subject.
One of the highlights of the program is the movie "The Battleship Potemkin", directed by Sergei Eisenstein, which will be screened on October 9th. This, among other classics, makes up a selection designed to offer immersion in the universe of seventh art and its intersections with political institutions.
For interested parties, admission is free and the event is open to the public. The Redemption Room is located at ENG. Luiz Englert Street, 333.
