IFCH teacher is selected as a visitor at the Center for International Studies in Paris

Professor Christian Jecov Schallenmuller of the Department of Political Science and PPG in Public Policy at UFRGS, was chosen as a visiting professor at the prestigious Center for International Studies (CERI) at Sciences PO, Paris. The research conducted by Schallenmuller, entitled "Integral Reparation in Transitional Justice", focuses on inclusive approaches and business responsibility in Brazil and Chile.
The relevance of the research aroused the interest of Ceri's executive director Ewa Kuleszam, who highlights the importance of the theme for South American Policy specialists. Prof. Olivier Dabène will act as a mentor of the project, which analyzes the distinct trajectories of Brazil and Chile in the transitional court. Schallenmuller emphasizes two significant contributions: the investigation of the reasons behind the different trajectories and the inclusion of a collective dimension in reparation claims.
Sciences PO, classified among the three best universities in the world in Political Science, offers a conducive environment for advances in the countryside. The research will not only contribute to knowledge in the area of transitional justice, but will also strengthen continuous international cooperation, highlighting the long partnership between UFRGS and Sciences PO. Retired teachers, such as Helgio Trindade, Maria Izabel Noll and Carlos Arturi, and recent collaborators, such as Anaís Medeiros Passos, show the amplitude and continuity of this collaboration. Professor André Marenco, currently in the Department of Political Science, also contributed to work missions.
This international recognition not only reinforces the merit of Prof. Schallenmuller, but also UFRGS's prominent position in the global academic scenario. The project aims not only to advance the understanding of the transitional justice, but also to promote a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by Brazil and Chile in its recent history.
