Professor Luciana Leite Lima assumes the presidency of ANEPECP

Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Public Policies at IFCH/UFRGS was elected to direct the main national entity dedicated to strengthening the Public Policy Field in Brazil
Professor Luciana Leite Lima, from the Postgraduate Program in Public Policies (PPGPP) at IFCH/UFRGS, assumed the presidency of the National Association for Teaching, Research and Extension of the Public Field (ANEPECP). Founded in 2015, ANEPECP has consolidated itself as the main academic, scientific and institutional articulation entity aimed at strengthening the Public Field in the country.
Created with the purpose of promoting integration between the academic, professional and social segments, the association's mission is to defend democratic, republican and ethical values, encourage scientific production committed to the public interest, qualify teaching and research and contribute to the improvement of public management and public policies in Brazil.
The Public Field is an interdisciplinary area of training, research and professional practice focused on understanding, formulating, implementing, evaluating and managing public policies, as well as qualifying the State from a democratic perspective. Combining knowledge from Public Administration, Social Sciences, Law, Economics and related areas, the field trains professionals capable of facing complex public problems with technical rigor, social sensitivity and ethical commitment.
The expansion trajectory of Campo de Públicas in recent decades highlights its strategic importance. In the early 1990s, the country had only three courses linked to the area. Currently, there are more than 500 undergraduate and postgraduate courses throughout Brazil. In 2022, more than 17 thousand professionals were trained, contributing to the qualification of public management and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
In this process, ANEPECP played a decisive role by coordinating national debates, defending the National Curricular Guidelines specific to the Public Field, dialoguing with regulatory bodies, building consensus on the training profile and representing the area with public institutions, councils, academic forums and partner entities. Its principles — transparency, social participation, justice, inclusion and defense of human rights — guide action committed to democracy and public ethics.
About her election, Luciana Leite Lima highlighted:
“It is in this context that my election to the presidency of ANEPECP takes on special significance. I am given the responsibility of leading the association towards institutional strengthening. Along this path, the priorities are to advance the fight for professional regulation, expand the financial sustainability of the association, strengthen research networks, intensify extension actions and advance the regionalization of the entity.”
