Jorge Netherlands Thesis
“aesthetics of a flat and stationary world: science, religion and conspiracism in the digital ecosystem Terraplanist”
guided by Professor Emerson Alessandro GIUMBELLI, the thesis analyzes the contemporary phenomenon of terralanism, prioritizing the understanding of forms through which the alleged evidence of this cosmological model is built, contrary to the consensus established by science.
work examines the role of a digital ecosystem of flat earth in the production and circulation of images, practices and discourses, which conform aesthetically aligned subjectivity with this alternative cosmology. The research also analyzes the arguments associated with the defense of a "science of truth," the literalist readings of the Bible and the conspiracy -based perspectives, revealing how such elements reinforce the legitimacy of terralanism in the contemporary digital environment.
