Step 2: Connecting to the UFRGS Network

  1. Click on the “UFRGS” network to select it.
  2. Press the “Connect” button to establish a connection.

Step 3: Logging In to the UFRGS Wireless Network

  1. Open a web browser and attempt to access any webpage.
  2. You will be redirected to a login page.

Step 4: Providing Login Credentials

  1. Enter your UFRGS credentials in the specified fields:
    • Nome de Usuário: Your UFRGS card number, consisting of 8 digits with leading zeros, or the visitor ticket.
    • Senha: Use the same password used for accessing the Student/Employee Portal or the password provided for the visitor ticket.

Step 5: Completing the Login Process

  1. After entering your credentials, click on the “Login” button.

Congratulations! You are now connected to the UFRGS wireless network and have full access to the internet. If you encounter any issues during this process, please contact the library team for assistance.

Option 2: Eduroam

In addition to the open UFRGS network, the academic community at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul has access to a more secure and reliable option for internet connectivity—the Eduroam network. Eduroam is a global roaming service developed for the academic and research community, providing a secure and streamlined connection at participating institutions worldwide.

Advantages of Eduroam:

  1. Enhanced Security: The Eduroam network employs advanced security protocols, ensuring the protection of transmitted data during the connection.
  2. International Access: One of the key benefits of Eduroam is the ability to connect securely not only at UFRGS but also at other participating institutions around the world. This is especially useful for students, professors, and researchers traveling for academic events or international collaborations.
  3. Single Sign-On Credentials: By using the same login credentials, you can authenticate automatically on the Eduroam network, eliminating the need to reconfigure connection settings in different locations, so if you already have an Eduroam login set in your computer just select the network.

How to Connect to Eduroam:

  1. Select the Eduroam Network: When detecting available networks, choose the “Eduroam” option instead of the UFRGS network.
  2. Use Your UFRGS Credentials: Enter your UFRGS credentials (card number+@ufrgs.br and password) for authentication on the Eduroam network.

By opting for Eduroam, you ensure a more secure online experience and broaden your connectivity possibilities during your academic journey. If you encounter any issues connecting to Eduroam, please contact library team for assistance.
